Celebrating our Armed Forces Advocate Award finalists

The first ever Celebrating Forces Families (CFF) Awards Evening will be taking place at the end of April in London and the CFF Team are thrilled to be sharing news of the Armed Forces Advocate Award finalists. Three amazing military partners will be joining the evening’s black tie celebrations to find out who will walk away with the winning trophy.

This particular award is for those who publicly and positively support the Armed Forces. This could be through a school, group/club, family or an individual.

Meet the finalists

Rebecca Hull - CFF Finalist

Rebecca Hull

Rebecca Hull runs Elson Junior School Service Club and takes time to build great relationships with not just the children but the families too. She has also built relationships with a local Veteran’s group for the children to gain insight into a Veteran’s life, allowing the children to learn that Service families are looked after for all of their lives. This is alongside fostering relationships with the local military bases who provide talks on Navy life.

Nadine Monks - CFF Finalist

Nadine Monks

Nadine Monks is a married to a Veteran Royal Engineer and mum to three children. She set up her business – Forces Family Finance – to help military families gain access to quality financial advice. She has dedicated the last 8 years to championing this community to lenders, insurers, employers and networks. The business holds a Silver ERS award and Nadine is a Milspo Ambassador. She provides her services pro-bono to thousands of Serving personnel including supporting MOD’s civilian housing briefs on military units.

Vasemaca Manu - CFF award finalist

Vasemaca Manu

Vasemaca Manu has partnered with Marama Alliance UK to deliver free virtual Live sessions on financial literacy and financial capability. She is passionate about her work, and this comes through in her sessions showing her care and commitment to the Fijian Forces families and Veteran families as well. She has been featured recently in a Forces Families Jobs video talking about her current role, but it is her generosity in giving her time and expertise freely to the Fijian community which is mostly made up of military families and Veterans, that really makes her stand out.

Award Sponsor, Mott MacDonald’s Armed Forces Steering Group Chair, Liz Baldwin says:

“We at Mott MacDonald are delighted and honoured to be involved in this inaugural Celebrating Forces Families Awards ceremony. We are proud to employ a significant number of military family members across the business and strive always to look after their needs through our flexible employment and wellbeing policies. We recognise that military family members often make significant sacrifices in support of their serving loved ones and, as a strong advocate for inclusivity and openness, we are particularly pleased to be sponsoring the Armed Forces Advocate(s) of the Year award. We wish all the nominees the very best of luck.”

Chair of the Partner Employment Working Group, Sarah Walker says:

“It has been completely inspiring to read the many nominations we had – the hard part was choosing those we couldn’t shortlist. In my eyes, they are all winners! Our military families really do contribute massively to the UK Armed Forces, making it the fantastic community that it is today.

“I am also absolutely delighted to be working with a fantastic event team to bring to life our very first Celebrating Forces Families Awards Evening.”

Military families supporting military families

This event really is being brought together from within its own community. The event team are all military family members themselves – some grew up as military children, others as partners or Veterans. This includes additional resources such as Lee Mowlem from remarkablepixel.co.uk, Helen at helenholtphotography.com, Al Topping of xtremeexposures.com, Hannah Illingworth of hivirtualassistant.uk and Andrea Baker of bsclothingandgifts.co.uk.

Thank you to the sponsors

The financial support provided by all of the amazing CFF sponsors has allowed this tri-Service event to be a truly memorable evening for all families involved.
